In the petrochemical sector, the chemical storage tank is a crucial piece of equipment. The holding tank, which is used to store various petrochemicals before shipping, is a very heavy, dynamic structure that strains the integrity of the concrete foundation. The structure expands and contracts due to the different materials and temperatures, but it is also challenged by normal weather conditions.
Problem
Due to standing water and other environmental variables, the foundation of a holding tank started to show signs of corrosion. The foundation of the holding tank was becoming unstable due to rust, which required repair to stop further harm. The client was seeking a product that would offer enduring resistance to moisture, other environmental factors, and potentially corrosive substances.
Solution
Three Devcon Flexane products were used to efficiently cure chemical erosion.
To achieve optimum adhesion, the repair area was cleaned, the debris was taken out, and the concrete was dried.
The metal and concrete surfaces received a coating of Devcon FL-20 Primer and FL-10 Primer, respectively.
To seal the holding tank foundation seam, Devcon Flexane 80 Liquid was used.
Project Outcome
Effective Repair in Difficult Environment
The Devcon Flexane 80 Liquid system provided a durable repair that withstood the tank's dynamics, the damp atmosphere, and the various climatic fluctuations the petrochemical plant experienced.
Strong Durability
The petrochemical holding tank foundation's corrosion was reduced by using Devcon Flexane 80 Liquid and primers.
Devcon Flexane 80 Liquid helps shorten maintenance times by preventing frequent reapplication by shielding the holding tank base from ongoing corrosive and erosive degradation.
